Salvadoran dishes on the World Cup of Food:
Jamaica brings us jerk chicken and peas and rice, two preparations that showcase the strong African influence on the island’s food. For El Salvador we had pupusas and curtido, a combination available all over the tiny Central American nation.
Our pupusas were great, tiny pockets of cheese-filled goodness. Our Jamaican dishes won us over, though. Tender, spicy jerk chicken and hearty rice and peas have earned Jamaica a place in the round of thirty-two, where it will face France.
